Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort in Aspen, CO

Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort in Aspen, CO

First of all, if anyone is wondering where they should visit, no matter the season, no matter their hobbies, no matter their mood… The answer is Aspen, CO. This place is unreal. We went in the late summertime, but I can only imagine how it would be in the springtime or during the winter. And don’t get me started on how much I’m dying to see it in the most beautiful season of all (Autumn, of course). The beauty here is truly breathtaking.

Second of all, if you make the smart decision and go to Aspen there is really only one place you should stay. And that is Hotel Jerome. I’m not kidding when I say it’s absolutely fantastic. I know I sound really dramatic and overly full of superlatives, but it was love at first sight.

The exterior is all brick. It looks like it could be front and center on the slow moving main street in some Western.  The hotel staff embraces this feel by dressing in close fitting denim, plaid, and cowboy boots and hats. It’s charming. And as exciting as the exterior is, the interior makes it look almost boring. It positively oozes charm, rustic luxury, and effortless cowboy elegance.

After greeting the resident hotel dog (an enormous and sweet Bernese Mountain Dog, I believe. This city is incredibly dog friendly), we were shown to our adjoining rooms. The kids (we have four now… What?!!!) were in a gorgeous room with a cot and crib rolled in for the littles and two beds for the little bit bigger littles. The kicker was that on each bed was a drawstring backpack personalized with their names embroidered on the front, a picture book, coloring book, and a box of crayons. They flipped. Then our room was resplendent with enormous bed, beautiful view, plush decor, and understated luxury. Also, the bathroom design made all my dreams come true.

Not only is the hotel stunning and so much fun (the walls in the elevator are decorated floor to ceiling with old leather belts, for crying out loud!) the location couldn’t be better. It is a quick walk to incredibly restaurants, amazing shopping, fun and beautiful parks, the Silver Queen Gondola up Aspen Mountain, the John Denver Sanctuary, and too many more attractions to list. After exploring Maroon Bells on the way out of town, I am counting the days until we can return. Preferably in the Fall because I can only imagine how it looks once those leaves turn. And you can bet there is only one hotel at which I’ll be staying. I can’t wait!

Hotel Jerome paid attention to all the little things. In the end, that’s all that matters.
