Style & Character

Built over 100 years ago, the hotel still conveys luxury and elegance. The Hermitage Hotel architecture follows suit with many other buildings that were also built during the same time period. Modeled after Beaux-Arts style, the architecture offers an old-world blend of classical Italian and French Renaissance features. No detail has been forgotten in what was originally known as “Nashville’s first million-dollar hotel.” From the magnificent, painted glass skylight in the lobby to the original, ornate chandeliers in the dining room, The Hermitage Hotel is still one of the most cherished landmarks in the city.

Food & Drink

Nashville is rich with many amazing eateries and bars. But if you’re looking to stay in house, The Hermitage contains a grille and bar that are both nationally recognized as some of Nashville’s best: Capitol Grille and Oak Bar.

Opened in 1910, Capitol Grille is the oldest and longest-running Southern restaurant in the state; some say it is the last remaining example of what Southern simplicity should truly taste like. Capitol Grille is inspired by Tennessee and the land around it. Most of the ingredients are sourced directly from their very own Double H Farms, and the recipes and flavors honor Southern techniques from 100 years ago.

Adjacent to the Capitol Grille is the world-famous Oak Bar. Originally opened as a private gentleman’s club during the prohibition, the bar achieved its notoriety when it was caught serving tea pots filled with bourbon. Today the Oak Bar is still known for its bourbon, hosting a 130-bottle library—the largest collection in Nashville. The bar also includes many food options ranging from salads to burgers, with a variety of appetizers in between.
